Kumar's first five years of life were not easy. Coming from a hoarding situation with 4 other dogs, Kumar arrived at Labs and More very shy and scared of everything. After spending several weeks in a foster home, he is opening up and letting his inner happy dog loose, but he will need a patient family willing to continue to socialize him with new places, people and other dogs. Kumar looks to be a mix of a few breeds but we think he could have a little Lab in him. With his red coloring and speckles on his chest, he may also have some Cattle Dog in his mix. He is fostered with three dogs ranging from 30lbs to 60lbs and he loves to play with them. Since he has always been with other dogs and they help make him more confident, Kumar will need another dog in his forever home. Young children are a little overwhelming for Kumar and he would prefer a home with no children under 12 years old and one that doesn't have a lot of visitors coming in and out. Kumar is very much a velcro dog with his people and dog siblings. He bonds quickly and closely to one person and then follows him or her everywhere as a shadow. When he is nervous, he takes sanctuary in his crate, but he is learning it's okay to be out of his crate and socializing. He sleeps through the night in his crate or in his foster parent's bed curled up against his people. Kumar is treat motivated and takes treats gently. He is house trained as long as he is let out on a regular basis. Walk time is when he truly lights up. Kumar's tail starts wagging and his prances around the neighborhood with his head held high. He goes on several walks a day in his foster home, loves to run around the yard with his foster siblings and has medium energy. Kumar is still learning kindness of humans and right now, we think he would prefer a quieter home where he can continue to open up and blossom. If you are interested in meeting Kumar, please submit an adoption application on our website.
