Zig is a 5 month old Shar Pei mix who had a very rough start to life- she was used as a bait dog during dog fights and has spent weeks in a foster home recovering physically and emotionally from a horrific dog bite to her face. As a result of this attack, she has lost vision in one eye and her jaw has some deformities which may require dental surgery when her adult teeth start to arrive. In the meantime, she is in no discomfort and has full use of her jaw (this girl eats like a champ!).

Zig is also recovering emotionally in her foster home. We don't know what trauma she experienced at human hands before arriving, but she has been slow to trust and engage in her foster home. When her people are sitting down, she is happy to engage and play, and her favorite place to snooze is in a lap, but sudden movements make her uncomfortable and send her scurrying back to her safe space (the couch). In the morning, her entire body wiggles with delight and excitement at the sight of her foster mom (this could be because breakfast is coming and mealtime is her favorite, but the greeting is pretty wonderful nonetheless!) She is most comfortable on the couch, where she's up off the ground and can see what's happening around her, so will need a forever home where dogs are welcome on the couch. Leash training has been slow-going, so she'll also need a forever home with a yard, but she has been doing well with a harness.

Zig loves engaging with the other dogs in her foster home, and is looking for a forever home with a confident dog sibling to show her the way. This squishy little sweetheart is even friends with the resident cat in her foster home, and they love to play together! If you are interested in meeting Zig, please submit an adoption application on our website. Current processing time for applications is about 3 weeks. If you are a previous Labs and More adopter or already approved, please reach out to your adoption coach for the next steps.

This information is as up to date and accurate as possible for the dog in its current environment. All dogs and puppies will need time and training to adjust to their new surroundings and to learn the rules of their new home. If you are interested in meeting one of our dogs, the first step is to complete the Adoption Form on our website at www.labsandmore.org and take some time to review our adoption process. Your adoption includes the spay or neuter, current vaccinations, microchip, and other services provided while in our care. The safety and health of our puppies is priority one, so we only allow approved applicants to meet and handle puppies. Please understand everything we do is for the dogs and conducted by our kind and generous volunteers. We rely solely on donations, and we do not profit from a dog's adoption. Labs and More is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that operates on donations and time dedicated to this cause by volunteers. Your adoption will save the life of future dogs in need. Labs and More makes no guarantees regarding the behavior, breed, or age of the dogs in our care. Although we strive to provide necessary medical care to dogs in our care, we cannot predict future or current medical needs whether they were symptomatic or not at the time of adoption.
